Paradise Valley Community College opened for classes in Fall 1987 with 35-40 staff members and a student enrollment of 3781. Take a moment to review the photos included in this time period that cover the college ground “uplifting,” dedication and early pictures of the campus, faculty, staff and students. During this time the college was recognized as an early leader in student and employee development philosophies. |
Paradise Valley Community College went through a period of tremendous growth during this decade. The college receives independent accreditation, full-time staff members total 198, and enrollment reaches 7000 students. New and remodeled facilities were brought online including the new M-Building classroom, nearly doubling our classroom space, E and B Buildings built with $29.1 million dollars from the 1994 county bond. |
Paradise Valley Community College becomes a more comprehensive college by offering new occupational programming, establishing educational and business partnerships, launching the choices alternative delivery program and introducing additional athletic teams and facilities. New facilities built included the Center for Performing Arts, Black Mountain Campus, and the Life Sciences Building. During this time period PVCC assesses and then affirms its core value of learning and adopts a learning centered college philosophy. PVCC reaches peak enrollment of over 12,000 students and over 250 full-time employees. |
Paradise Valley Community College continues to expand its facilities by remodeling and opening the Q Building and KSC Student Center, opening the Health Science Building and Aquila Hall at Black Mountain. Athletic programs continue to excel academically and are recognized four times as NJCAA National Champions in soccer and cross country. The college is awarded the Aspen top 150 community colleges award for three years in a row for student success and completion, is recognized as a veteran supportive campus and receives another 10-year re-accreditation. |
